Macrium Reflect discussed at AppScout

April 16th, 2009

I’ve been playing with Macrium Reflect for the last few weeks as part of a new backup scheme for my laptop and my wife’s computer. I’m still not settled with my scheme but I love Macrium Reflect and highly recommend it for anyone looking for an easy way to backup and recover from a complete disaster.

AppScout has a nice write up entitled Macrium Reflect Backs up Your Files for Free. Check it out! And watch for an explanation of my backup scheme in the next week or so.

Files app from OliveToast

March 11th, 2009

OliveToast Files app My new favorite iPod Touch app is Files from OliveToast Software. I have always wanted to use my iPod Touch as a mobile storage device. This app allows you to connect to the iPhone or Touch as a WebDav server and copy files and folders to it. Super easy to use and very convenient on my under used 16GB iPod Touch.

The Files app allows for viewing on the screen of a wide range of file formats including Office documents, PDF, RTF and RTFD documents, images, text, html, movie and audio files. Images can be viewed in a similar fashion to Apples Photo app for iPhoto and includes a nice slideshow feature. And audio files can be played as well. Basically allowing you to load files and folders without using iTunes!

So far, it’s the best $7.00 I’ve spent on apps for the iPod Touch.
